Which entry permit, TWAC and travel documents do I need?

Check the applicable entry-permit procedure against your travel documents, residency status and previous visits. The same online permit is not available to every traveller. Read the official eligibility conditions before preparing documents and downloading or printing approved paperwork. Check TWAC eligibility separately on its official platform.

Official Hong Kong and Macao online-permit eligibility and procedure

How should I plan Taipei attractions, a private car and travel insurance?

Choose your hotel area and priority attractions first, then allow for driving, walking and breaks when planning a Taipei private-car day. Add travel time for Jiufen, Shifen or Yilan. Ask your insurer to confirm covered destinations, medical care, flight delays, baggage and excluded activities; save your policy and emergency contact details. This guide supports transport planning; individual insurance cover depends on the policy.

Passenger arrival procedures

Review the sequence after landing, then follow current signs and staff instructions. This official procedure diagram does not identify a fixed 83Cars meeting point.

Arriving at Taoyuan Airport: a step-by-step guide

1. Before departure, check your passport and any applicable visa or entry permit. Whether you need TWAC depends on your documents and the official eligibility rules. The current official FAQ allows free online submission within the seven-day period ending on your arrival date, including arrival day. Recheck the latest rules before travelling. TWAC FAQ

2. Follow the arrival signs for quarantine procedures and immigration. Keep your travel documents ready.

3. Check your flight’s baggage carousel and collect every bag. Report missing or damaged baggage to the airline before leaving the controlled area.

4. Complete customs procedures. Use the red channel for declarable items or customs advice. Check your passport, phone and bags before entering the public arrivals hall.

5. Contact your driver after collecting your bags. Send your terminal and current location, then confirm the meeting point and vehicle registration before walking to the car.

Where are the Taoyuan Airport private-car pickup areas?

Terminal 1: the airport’s April 2026 trial announcement identifies meeting points 6–10 on the Terminal South Road curb.

Terminal 2: the same announcement identifies meeting points 51–55 and 61–62 on Level 1 of car park P4.

These are airport-published reservation pickup zones, not a fixed meeting point for every 83Cars booking. Existing curbside meeting points also remain subject to airport rules. Confirm your particular meeting point with the driver and follow current signs.

Taoyuan Airport transfers to Taipei and New Taipei

The current promotional one-way fare from Taipei or New Taipei to Taoyuan Airport is TWD 2,300. Airport pickup to Taipei or New Taipei is TWD 2,500 one way. These point-to-point transfers use a seven-seat Toyota Alphard MPV.

Name-board pickup costs an additional TWD 200. Night service from 22:00 to 06:00 adds TWD 200. An extra stop along the route within five kilometres costs TWD 200 per stop. Other destinations and remote areas require a separate quote; please provide the full address.

Toyota Alphard: passenger and luggage planning

The seven seats include the driver, leaving space for up to six passengers. Tell us the number of adults and children and the quantity and size of your bags. Please also mention strollers, large cases or golf bags so customer service can check a suitable seating and luggage arrangement.

Ask in advance about child seats or other special requirements, including availability and cost. If you need service in another language, request it when asking for a quote; the website language does not confirm the driver’s language.

Taipei private car charter: 5 or 8 hours

A five-hour city charter is TWD 7,000; an eight-hour charter is TWD 10,000. Overtime is TWD 1,000 per hour. Charter service areas include Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, Taoyuan and Hsinchu. Cross-county return trips, other destinations and special service times are quoted separately.

For a Taipei half-day outing, share the places you would like to visit, such as Taipei 101 or Dihua Street, along with your hotel. For Jiufen, Shifen or Yilan, tell us your planned stops and visiting times. These are itinerary ideas, not fixed packages or a promise that every route fits the advertised hours.

Business travel, corporate visits and golf transfers

Arrange a private car for airport arrivals, hotel-to-meeting transfers, corporate visits or golf courses. Provide meeting or tee times, full addresses, expected stop durations and luggage or golf equipment details so we can assess the route and vehicle hours.

83Cars services are provided by 東元國際租賃有限公司, established in 1988. Professional driving, luggage assistance and flexible itinerary planning help you travel comfortably between appointments.

Included costs, supplements and HKD payment

The listed vehicle fares include fuel, tolls, parking and driver fees. Charter prices exclude tax. Late-night, early-morning, holiday, Lunar New Year and extended-holiday service must be quoted separately. For charters of two or more consecutive days with an overnight stay away from the base, the driver accommodation allowance is TWD 1,500; lunch and dinner allowances are TWD 200 per meal.

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, WeChat Pay, Alipay, PayMe, Faster Payment System (FPS), JKOPay and LINE Pay. Hong Kong travellers can enquire about payment in HKD. Prices on this page are in TWD; confirm the payment currency and final amount with customer service when booking.

How to book your private car

1. Contact us through LINE, WhatsApp or the form below with your travel date, flight, pickup and drop-off addresses, passenger count, luggage and itinerary.

2. Customer service confirms the vehicle, route, total price, payment and special requests.

3. Complete your booking according to the confirmed arrangements and keep the trip and contact details. Book at least three working days ahead, or seven working days for extended holidays and Lunar New Year.

Booking questions: cancellation and flight changes

Can I cancel? Cancellation on the day before the trip incurs 50% of the total fare; same-day cancellation incurs 100%. Confirm any other change arrangements when booking.

What if my flight changes? Send updated flight details and confirm meeting instructions, waiting arrangements and possible charges with customer service when booking. Do not assume an unconfirmed waiting allowance.

Can I add stops? Tell us in advance. We will check feasibility and any additional charges based on the route, time and service area.

Request your Alphard transfer or charter

Send your date, route, passenger count and luggage details for a confirmed private-car arrangement and quote.

Practical questions about private cars and airport transfers

What luggage details should I provide?

List large suitcases, cabin bags and smaller bags separately, with their length, width and height. Include folded dimensions for strollers, wheelchairs and golf bags. A seven-seat vehicle includes the driver; passenger capacity does not mean the same number of large cases will fit. Customer service must confirm the combined seating and luggage arrangement.

How do I meet my airport pickup driver?

Complete immigration, baggage collection and customs first. Then send: “Hello, my booking name is __. I have collected my bags at Terminal __ and am near door/meeting point __. We have __ passengers and __ bags.” Confirm the driver, plate number and pickup point before walking there. Keep your group together.

What if my flight is delayed or my baggage is missing?

Notify customer service as soon as a flight change is announced. Share the flight number, original arrival date and updated arrival time. Reconfirm the service date if the change crosses midnight. Report immigration or baggage delays too. Before booking, confirm when waiting time starts, the waiting allowance, contact arrangements and any applicable charges; keep the written confirmation.

When should I leave my hotel for the airport?

Start with your airline’s required airport arrival, check-in and boarding times. Work backwards, allowing for the drive, possible traffic, boarding the vehicle and loading luggage. Give customer service your flight departure time, terminal and full pickup address. Allow flexibility for holidays, peak hours, rain and longer journeys. A navigation estimate covers only part of the preparation.

How should I plan a Jiufen, Shifen or Yilan charter?

List your priority stops, starting and finishing points, and any timed activities. Include driving, walking, queues, meals and rest breaks. Leave room to adjust mountain routes, journeys between cities and trips ending at the airport. Five-hour and eight-hour options are vehicle-hire durations, not a promise that every combination of attractions can be completed. Confirm the route and quotation first.

Which costs should I confirm before booking?

Check the total, currency, taxes and applicable terms for late-night or special dates, extra stops, waiting, overtime and cancellation. Confirm which items apply with customer service. For HKD payments, check the payment method, settlement currency and amount due. Keep the quotation and payment confirmation, and agree any additional charge before changing the itinerary.

What should families and passengers with mobility needs tell us?

Provide children’s ages and heights, requested child seats and any help needed when boarding. For a wheelchair, give its folded size, whether it folds and whether the passenger can transfer to a vehicle seat. Customer service must confirm vehicle suitability and available assistance. Child seats, equipment, accessible vehicles and their charges require separate confirmation.

Should I choose a private car, Airport MRT, HSR or TRA?

Compare the whole journey: group size, baggage handling, transfers, arrival time and the final connection to your hotel. A private car suits travellers seeking a confirmed point-to-point itinerary. Assess rail options by station locations, schedules and fares. Compare all passengers’ tickets plus connecting transport, rather than one individual fare. Official transport links are provided on this page.

Taiwan Tourism and Transport Information

Plan your journey beyond the airport with practical rail, metro and domestic-flight guidance. Check the exact station or airport, ticket conditions and latest operating notices before travelling.

Taiwan Railway (TRA): buying tickets and boarding

Choose your departure station, destination, date and train on the official website, Taiwan Railway e-booking app or at a station. Complete payment and ticket collection or the electronic-ticket procedure by the stated deadline. A booking reference alone is not a boarding ticket.

At the station, check your train number, departure time and platform on the boards. For reserved services, use the train, carriage and seat shown on your ticket. TRA and high-speed rail are separate systems; similarly named stations may be in different places.

Taiwan Railway: trains and booking

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR): buying tickets and boarding

Book through the THSR website, T-EX app, ticket office or station machine. Select your route, date, train and ticket type, then complete payment and ticket collection. For mobile tickets, check that collection has been completed in the app.

Check northbound or southbound direction, train number and platform. Use the appropriate ticket at the gate; take your assigned seat for reserved tickets, or the designated cars for non-reserved travel. THSR serves the western corridor; eastern Taiwan and the islands require onward transport.

THSR: routes, timetables and tickets

Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung metro maps

Find the nearest station to your destination. Follow line colours, destination signs and interchange stations, and use a ticket or electronic card accepted by that network. Keep luggage clear of doors and walkways.

Taipei: use the city’s official map guide and check transfers between separate networks. Taichung: the city tourism map links stations with nearby attractions. Kaohsiung: use the MOTC links to the current MRT and light-rail operating map. Planned future routes are not necessarily open.

Songshan Airport: international arrivals and domestic connections

For international arrivals, follow quarantine and immigration signs, collect baggage and complete customs. The official guide shows arrival on Level 3 and the immigration hall on Level 2; follow the day’s signs and staff directions.

Domestic arrivals follow landing, baggage collection and exit procedures. For an international-to-domestic connection, complete entry first, then follow the airline’s check-in instructions and confirm whether baggage must be checked in again. Taoyuan and Songshan are different airports and require a ground transfer.

Taipei Songshan Airport: arrival and departure procedures

Domestic and island flights: booking and boarding

For Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, Green Island or Orchid Island, first confirm the actual destination airport and available departure airport in the CAA timetable. Routes vary by destination, season and date.

Use the CAA’s airline directory to reach the airline’s official booking site. Enter passenger details accurately, pay, and retain your confirmation. Check baggage allowance, check-in deadlines and change or refund conditions.

Bring valid identification; foreign visitors should carry their passport. Follow check-in, baggage drop, identity checks, security, waiting and boarding procedures. Songshan domestic counter check-in normally opens 60 minutes before departure and must be completed at least 30 minutes before, subject to your airline’s rules.

Recheck flight status before leaving. Fog, typhoons and other weather may change island services; holiday routes may have special booking dates and ticket restrictions.

Sightseeing, accommodation and weather

Use the Tourism Administration and city or county tourism websites to confirm attraction opening times, reservations and access. Consult official resources for registered accommodation and official weather alerts.

Allow flexibility for mountain, coastal and island travel. For a private-car connection to an airport, station or hotel, send 83Cars your date, exact addresses, passenger count and luggage to confirm availability and a quote.

Airport MRT connections: Taoyuan, Songshan and high-speed rail

Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 is served by Airport MRT station A12; Terminal 2 by A13. Check A1 Taipei Main Station for Taipei, or A18 Taoyuan HSR Station for high-speed rail. Use the appropriate separate tickets for the MRT and HSR, and allow time to exit, walk and wait.

The Airport MRT has Express and Commuter services. For A18, check that your particular train stops there; colour alone is insufficient. At a ticket machine, select your destination and quantity, pay and collect the tickets, then follow the gate instructions. Check eligibility and balance before using a stored-value card. Verify last trains and current operating notices.

Songshan Airport connects with BR13 Songshan Airport station on Taipei MRT’s Wenhu Line. This is a different station from Songshan railway/MRT station. Enter the full station name when planning your route.

Travel advice, weather and accommodation checks

In Taiwan, the toll-free travel-information hotline is 0800-011-765, available 24 hours. Official service information also lists Mandarin, English, Japanese and Korean advice; check the official site for language arrangements. This is not the 83Cars booking number.

Before departure, check official weather forecasts and warnings, and look up registered accommodation on TaiwanStay. If a flight or train changes, confirm the situation with the operator before contacting your transfer provider to adjust arrangements.

Songshan Airport: complete arrival guide and official maps

A1–A6 follow the six official steps for cross-border arrivals. B1–B3 cover flights within Taiwan. Each map keeps its full proportions; select it to view the official original at a larger size.

Cross-border arrivals: six steps

A1 | Level 3 arrival: follow arrival signs after leaving the aircraft and check your flight category.

A2 | Level 3 health screening: follow current on-site screening instructions. Tell staff if you feel unwell.

A3 | Go to Level 2: follow signs to the passport-control hall. Ask airline or airport staff if you need mobility assistance.

A4 | Level 2 passport control: prepare your passport and any applicable visa or entry permit. Travellers required to complete TWAC should use the official platform and check current eligibility and instructions.

A5 | Level 2 baggage reclaim: check your flight and carousel, then count your bags and match baggage tags. Report missing, damaged or mistaken baggage to the airline before leaving the controlled area.

A6 | Level 1 customs: follow the route through customs and any applicable animal or plant quarantine checks. Ask the counter staff if you have goods to declare or are unsure. Then proceed to the arrivals hall.

Flights within Taiwan: three steps on Level 1

B1 | Arrival: follow arrival signs after leaving the aircraft. B2 | Baggage reclaim: collect checked bags at the carousel and keep baggage tags. B3 | Exit: follow ground staff instructions for baggage checks, then leave through the arrivals hall.

Driver meeting, connections and baggage

Contact your driver after completing arrival formalities and collecting all bags. Send your flight, terminal/exit, passenger count and baggage count. Confirm the driver, vehicle plate and agreed meeting point before walking to the car. These maps do not establish a fixed 83Cars pickup point.

When connecting from a cross-border flight to a flight within Taiwan, complete arrival formalities first. Follow the airline’s check-in instructions, confirm whether baggage must be checked again and allow connection time. Taoyuan and Songshan are separate airports and require ground transport.
